We asked five of our managers about their plans for the year, prompting them to reflect on personal and professional goals and the steps they are taking towards them. It turns out our team is committed to making 2016 truly WOW-worthy in many ways. As the managers disclose in their interviews, Kaymu will deliver a WOW experience to its whole community – buyers, sellers, partners, press, employees.

Philip Obianuju, Head of Customer Service

“Customer Service is committed to making 2016 the year of the customer! We are working faster and better, focusing on creating lasting first impressions and exceeding customer expectations, which is our version of the WOW factor. We are committed to providing a one-call-resolution, so every buyer or seller gets their query resolved at the first attempt. We are perfecting our issue resolution processes by collaborating with other departments and holding ongoing education trainings for our Service Specialists.

Personally, I’m committed to adopting better eating habits this year. I want to be healthier overall and drive those I care about to do the same: family, friends, co-workers. I’ve already started eating better at work and sharing healthier meals with my team. Making 2016 the Year of Wow definitely starts with building a Wow lifestyle!”

“This year is the year to WOW Kaymuites! Build the best team—hire the best candidates and retain the best employees. Our plan includes a number of initiatives for employee engagement, internal and external events, trainings, community events oriented towards our Kaymu family’s family members as well. We are focused on giving opportunities of growth and providing a WOW customer service –and for HR, our own team is our best customers!

For me, 2016 is about growth in every aspect, be it family, love, career, relationships, and personal development. It’s a new decade for me, a new beginning, and a decade of opportunities to build and grow the best version of myself. This year is about growing into a WOW version of me!

Jonah Trichao, Head of Logistics, Africa

In 2016, I want my team to focus on taking the relationship with our customers beyond the transactional relationship and consistently exceeding our customers’ expectations. The first step is to woo the customer by introducing a good assortment of products, the second is to WOW the customer by delivering the products before the expected time and offering a seamless logistical process. We have already started rolling out some projects aimed at express delivery through our logistics partners which will make this happen.

Personally, I’d like to cut down on smoking and get into a healthier lifestyle. I’ve already begun smoking less and if I can keep it up, I would have definitely done something WOW for myself in 2016.

This year is all about growing the team into its best self so we can drive WOW campaigns. We’re prioritizing learning and innovation, collaborating more closely with other departments and regional countries, and consistently sharing feedback and giving due recognition amongst ourselves. The team is strong and driven and ready to WOW our community with creativity and superb content.

On my end, I want to get more deeply involved in my relationships with the team and personally. No more “go,” only “let’s go!” No micromanagement but meaningful collaboration and exchange of ideas. Delivering WOW can only happen if we do it together!

2016 is about growth and community and these two goals go hand in hand. We want to grow with our entrepreneurs and the goal is to double their revenues, on average. The team is focusing more and more on community; Kaymu is not just another e-commerce site, but a social, engaging medium where people exchange information, share stories, and learn from others. It’s a platform where our buyers and sellers get connected to like-minded entrepreneurs. We are going to work to WOW our community every day through superior customer service, hassle-free transactions, and an inimitable dedication to satisfying and grooming emerging entrepreneurs. The team is working not only harder, but smarter to make these goals a reality every day.

For me 2016 is all about getting into a healthier lifestyle. I’m eating better already and I’ve started playing squash with some people in the team to get fit. I think that getting healthier will drive the entire team’s performance and energy levels!

At Kaymu, we are all committed to making 2016 the Year of WOW and we have defined the roles of each team in doing so. On a more personal level, there’s a new trend to grow our #KaymuFitFam and get into shape, very much in line with the worldwide trend of fitness, topping this years’ New Year’s resolutions.
